Hairstyles & Headdresses

Overview

Fashion gets a little more daring with the headdress trend. The fashion world has seen some fabulous headwear styles and some gorgeous hairstyles to go with them. Take head-to-toe style a little more literal and try out your fashion luck with some hot headwear.

Casually Fun

As always, Sarah Jessica Parker does not disappoint in her metallic, multicolored headdress. It’s a cross between a turban and a hair wrap with a knot in the middle -- and it’s oh so fierce. This look calls for leaving your hair down, and since it's a bit hipster, go for a natural look -- skip the hair irons and go light on the hair products.

Ageless Style

No matter the era, fashion is fashion -- and headdresses are no different. Smaller headdresses from the 1950s, like the ones worn by the stylish Lucy and Ethel on the "I Love Lucy" TV show, can give you so much room to play without fear of overkill. If you opt for a smaller, fitted headpiece, let your hair share the style spotlight. Try heavy bangs, and take it further by subtly curling them to the side.

Royally Chic

We may not all be royalty but we can sure dress our hair like it. When going for a chic headdress like the ones worn by the lovely Kate Middleton, class and style are a must. Flowers, ribbon, tulle and pastels all call for soft styles. Lightly curl your hair, and since your face will likely be covered enough, pin some of your hair back so that it stays out of your face.

Don't Let it Wear You

Headdresses can get pretty massive, so when styling yourself, don't let the headdress wear you. This means your hairstyle should always complement your headdress, not compete with it. The bigger the headdress the more subtle the 'do. Also, avoid thick or oily hair products because if they get on your headdress, they can definitely dirty it, if not stain it.
